Abstract: |
As part of the archaeological evaluation, ten trial trenches were excavated, which established that significant archaeological remains were present within the study area. Evidence for settlement during the Roman period was found, focused on the glacial gravel's present in the north-eastern corner of the site. It was probable that the settlement extended to the north-east along the ridge of gravel. An earthwork consisting of a ditch that probably formed two sides of an enclosure may have defined a plot for a medieval building. Ridge and furrow cultivation survived as earthworks. Post-medieval pottery was recovered from one of the furrows. [Au(adp)] |
