Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a residential development within Theale, a village first documented in 1208. The site may have lain within the medieval settlement area, although the extent of this was not known. During the evaluation, a modern gully containing pottery, glass, animal bone and slag was recorded. The slag may have related to a mid-19th century blacksmith's shop, known to have lain on the site. It was concluded that the site was unlikely to have any archaeological potential. [AIP] |
