Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during selected groundworks associated with the installation of mains drainage. Several sites had been recorded in the surrounding area, including strip lynchets, 'Celtic field' earthworks and a church. During the watching brief, a complex of undated features was recorded which consisted of a bank and ditch, a linear feature and a row of post holes. Pieces of Roman and medieval tile were recovered, and a mammoth tooth was found. Later artefacts included post-medieval pottery and clay pipe fragments. [AIP] |
