Abstract: |
The study site was shown to have low potential for all past periods, with the exception of remains of the foundations of the 19th century gasworks retort house, which formerly occupied the northern and eastern parts of the study site. Past post-depositional impacts, in particular the construction of the canal, the gas-works retort house and the school building, were likely to have had a severe and widespread negative impact on any underlying archaeological remains across the site.
