Abstract:
A watching brief and excavation in advance of a housing development produced evidence for activity spanning the period from 800/50 BC through to the third century AD. The earliest activity on the site overlapped with the main phases of occupation at the hillfort, but was represented only by residual finds of pottery in later features. From the Late Iron Age through to the third century AD, a number of ditches and pits testified to activity continuing in the vicinity of the hillfort beyond the period of its abandonment in 100 BC.
