Abstract: |
Investigations in 2006 saw the first phase of a programme of work planned for this site over the proceeding four or five years. The site of the villa was located and a trench was dug to test the approach of the road close to the villa's frontage. A spoil heap was located near the detached bath house. Finds from the heap were mostly tile. The first test pits did not locate the road but produced Roman pottery in some quantity. The second set of test pits produced prehistoric pottery which might have been associated with the possibly prehistoric earthwork surveyed previously by English Heritage. [Au(adp)] |
