Abstract: |
The excavation revealed twenty-five archaeological features in Area 1, the majority of which were dated to the Late Iron Age/early Roman period. The features consisted of pits, post holes, a waterhole and ditches, which may have formed two enclosures. A group of five post holes were located within the eastern enclosure, but they did not form a coherent structural arrangement, and only one contained Iron Age material. The possible western enclosure was associated with a waterhole and four pits. A number of features produced Belgic Ware pottery. A medieval pit and a modern boundary were also excavated. No archaeological remains were revealed in Area 2. [Au(abr)] |
