Abstract: |
The site lay within the limits of the Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval settlements at Ware. Geotechnical investigations showed that there was between 2m and 2.8m of made ground on the site, with up to 2m of alluvium in the northern half. The made ground was likely to have been laid to raise the ground level and protect the site from flooding. Nonetheless, archaeological remains may have been truncated by the malting building and subsequent industrial unit. [Au(abr)] |
