Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken of the site and its immediate vicinity in advance of proposed residential development. The site was located adjacent to a Priority Archaeological Area as defined by the Local Planning Authority. It was determined that the site had a low archaeological potential for all periods of human activity. In addition, the previous development of the site was likely to have severely compromised the survival of any archaeological remains. Geotechnical information indicated that the brickearth deposits had been largely removed and that in many areas the underlying gravel had been truncated. The report concluded that therefore the proposed development's archaeological impact would be negligible, and further archaeological mitigation measures were not recommended. [Au(adp)] |
