Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of a new electricity cable trench. The area was dominated by the extant earthworks of the deserted village of Brackenborough. The earthworks comprised the tofts of the medieval village and moats associated with a manor house. The village remains were nationally important and were a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The investigations revealed a sequence of undated and recent deposits, including a rough stone surface, dumped deposits and topsoil. No finds were recovered during the investigation. [Au] |
