Abstract: |
The nine trial trenches excavated identified localised Roman activity, as well as some medieval features. AD 3rd century pottery indicated activity but probably not occupation, whilst in the northern part of the site, a large pit containing cattle skeletons and pottery was dated to the 13th-14th centuries. This appeared to be an isolated feature peripheral to the moated site to the north. The presence of a post-medieval field system was also noted. The evaluation gave enough information to construct a suitable mitigation strategy. [Au(adp)] |
