Abstract: |
The site of the priory lay in the south west quadrant of the city. The area of standing monument and associated buildings were bounded to the north by Blackfriars Lane, and to the west by Ladybellegate Street. The site contained archaeological evidence from the Roman, Saxon, Norman, medieval, post-medieval and modern periods. The archaeological remains gave a picture of the site at the construction of the friary and its subsequent use to the present day. However, what pre-friary development was known was unclear.
