Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation survey was undertaken of part of the De Lank Dimensional Stone Quarry complex to establish the extent of surviving archaeological remains. The area studied took in the northern end of the "tor enclosure" of presumed Neolithic date. The site was found to be best preserved on the ridge's long western side. Two entrances were identified, with the enclosure incorporating tors at both ends - and elsewhere natural clitter runs - into the defences in a typical tor enclosure fashion, supporting the postulated Neolithic date for the monument. A pair of menhirs were also identified within the enclosure. (Investigation undertaken by: Cornwall County Council, Cornwall Archaeological Unit.) {italon}Sec(abr)(22c){italoff} |
