Abstract: |
A magnetometer survey was undertaken prior to the proposed construction of a new dwelling. Owing to the presence of brambles and dumps of garden waste only a low confidence level could be assigned to features inferred from the geophysical data. Moreover, it was possible that more subtle geophysical anomalies of archaeological or geotechnical interest had been masked by effects of the surface disturbances. The geophysical data provided tentative evidence for the presence of one or more in situ fired features, near the south-east corner of the site, which may warrant further investigation via trial trenching. Further trenching may also be required to test for the presence of subsoil features elsewhere in the area of proposed development. [Au(adp)] |
