Abstract: |
A desk based assessment was undertaken on land associated with an overhead power line from a proposed windfarm to the substation. A corridor 1km wide of the power line was checked for archaeological remains. The route was also checked for its visual impact on the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site. The earliest features within the study area are medieval and consist of shielings. Evidence of post-medieval farming consisting of stack stands and a single farmstead on the Cumbrian side of the route. [Au(abr)] |
