Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment identified a low potential for archaeological remains of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic date. There was some limited potential for the presence of Neolithic flint scatters. A very high potential for archaeological remains of Bronze Age and Iron Age date had been identified. There were several crop mark complexes within the proposed development area and these included Bronze Age ring ditches, an Iron Age banjo enclosure, pits and linear features. It was conceivable that some of the crop mark features were Roman in date. Some limited potential for Roman remains within the proposed development area had been identified. Evidence suggested that during the medieval and post-medieval period, the proposed area was open fields. [Au(abr)] |
