Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation was undertaken on a site at the edge of the medieval western suburb where evidence of medieval industrial activity was revealed. The evidence comprised a probable tile kiln and oven or malting kiln. Remains of a tile floor were also uncovered along with a collapsed or disturbed stone wall foundation located close to the street frontage. Further evidence of medieval occupation was recorded on the site including clay and rubbish pits. A medieval roadside ditch was also revealed along with post-medieval rubbish or quarry pits.
