Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring revealed almost nothing of significance on this site, although the presence of the well drained terrace gravel, little more than half a metre below the modern surface, suggested a potential for the survival of early settlement evidence in the wider locality. During the later medieval period at least, this site evidently lay within the Bishops Deer Park, and later within pasture or arable fields. Archaeological remains represented nothing of those uses, until the adjacent Palace Farm buildings were erected from the 19th century onwards. [Au(adp)] |
