Abstract: |
The gas pipeline route encountered sites from a range of archaeological periods. A Bronze Age barrow was noted within the area, along with undated prehistoric cropmarks. Field walking within the study area had recovered prehistoric and Roman artefacts. The site of a deserted medieval village was located within the study area along with a number of earthworks. A medieval moat was identified within a manor house complex where various buildings were Listed. In addition there was a Grade I Listed church; the churchyard cross was a SAM. [Au(adp)] |
