Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken of three blocks of land, which were being considered for redevelopment. The presence of lithic scatters across the sites was anticipated. The archaeological potential of the sites for the Neolithic period was thought to be good. Past archaeological finds in Iwade indicated that all three sites could potentially have contained archaeological remains from this period. Such remains were, however, likely to have occurred at low density and in a truncated condition. The archaeological potential of the sites for the Bronze Age and Iron Age was defined as moderate to good. Settlement in these periods appeared to have been concentrated along the floodplain and tributaries of the Swale. [Au(abr)] |
