Abstract:
The building survey recorded the mainly 19th century derelict buildings to a suitable level in accordance with the project brief. It was mainly based on the compilation of a photographic archive accompanied by a written record and scale drawings (where applicable). During the work no features of archaeological importance were recorded which would have precluded demolition taking place or which required a level of recording beyond that called for in the archaeological brief. Trial trenching was facilitated to allow for comprehensive testing of the area. The majority of the activity appeared to be post-medieval and modern, there were a few medieval finds, later activity may well have truncated any evidence of earlier settlement.[AIP]
