Abstract: |
During restoration work to the west tower an inspection of a nearby vault was required. It was thought necessary to determine the vault's structural impact on the west tower. Removal of one of the panels revealed that the structure was in fact a retaining wall. Among the improvements being made to the church was a new drainage system. The drainage trench along the north of the church uncovered four shallow graves. The shallow depth of the graves encountered suggested that the graveyard was probably 19th century. The absence of structural remains may have been due to stone robbing that occurred when the site was re-levelled. [Au(abr)] |
