Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out ahead of the construction of houses. The only features of archaeological interest were two shallow gullies and a large ditch. These were datable by the presence of 10th-11th century pottery. The ditch was likely to have been a boundary feature while the function of the gullies was unclear. In general terms the evaluation enhanced the suggestion of Late Saxon occupation in the northern part of the village of Hanwell, although its focus and nature remained unclear. [Au(adp)] |
