Abstract: |
A desk-based study was undertaken of the proposed site of a leisure complex and underground car-park. The site lay within an archaeological priority zone, centred on the medieval or Saxon settlement of Woodford Green. The suggested alignment of a Roman road passed to the SE of the site. A tenement occupied the site of the adjacent Grade II listed building, a 1790s hotel, from medieval times until the 18th century. A resistivity survey was recommended.[AIP] |
