Abstract: |
In total six test pits were excavated, five of which contained sections of Old Gunwharf's quay wall. A large stone and brick culvert was observed in test pit three. The concrete foundations of the commanding ordance officer's quarters were observed overlying the stone quay wall. During construction work an additional stone foundation was uncovered to the north-east of the test pits. Plans showed that this was part of the original armoury building which was demolished in the early 1900s. [Au(abr)] |
