Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken prior to the proposed residential redevelopment of the site. Cartographic sources indicated that until the early 20th century the site had lain in open agricultural land as shown on the OS map of 1891. The potential for all other periods was defined as low. In view of the potential impact of the proposed development the report recommended that a single trial trench be cut across the line of a 'projected' Roman road alignment in order to confirm its absence.
