Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during construction groundworks across the site in order to fulfil a condition upon planning consent. Observation during the showed no evidence of archaeology. One small pit in the south-west corner of the site was seen and recorded though this contained no datable evidence of human activity. The topsoil across the site contained residual ceramic building material of post-medieval date and one heat affected, and possibly prehistoric, worked flint. The topsoil on the eastern side of the site consisted entirely of recent made ground, presumably a levelling deposit contemporary with the construction of the church. [Au(adp)] |
