Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment of the site revealed that several known sites of considerable archaeological importance lay nearby, dating from the prehistoric and Roman periods, and the northern part of the assessment site was found to be included within a designated Area of Archaeological Significance. During the medieval period the site lay at the periphery of the parish of Hemel Hempstead, and remained predominently agricultural until the 20th century. Substantial development of the area had occurred in the post-war period. [Au] |
