Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording was undertaken during groundworks associated with the erection of a dwelling and a garage. Monitoring of the site strip and the excavation of the open foundation trenches for the dwelling revealed archaeological deposits relating to 19th century ground raising deposits in the west of the site. It also revealed the remains of a 18th/19th century farmhouse (shown on an OS map) in the centre and a series of undated layers beneath the modern path/road. Artefacts recovered throughout the duration of the watching brief included 19th century stoneware pottery and a clay tobacco pipe. [Au(adp)] |
