Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks associated with the construction of a new pedestrianised layout within Daventry. For most of its length, the machine trench did not penetrate through a considerable depth of modern make up. In one area, post-medieval dumping layers were exposed, and large amounts of 18th-19th century brick and tile were recovered. These layers may have formed a platform for the memorial cross. [AIP] |
