Abstract: |
A watching brief and supporting documentary study was undertaken during works to redevelop the former Pearson's site. One cave, already known, running from Market Street on to the site was revealed, and a hole was accidentally knocked through into the cellar of number 17 Market Street revealing that it had been carved into the sandstone bedrock and was of relatively modern origin. No other archaeological features were encountered - the site had been extensively developed during the 1960's. [AIP] |
