Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of trial pits at a proposed development site. A considerable amount of made ground was encountered, which had resulted from the dumping of incineration waste and the subsequent laying of materials to provide a metalled surface. Glass bottles and ceramic vessels dating from the end of the 19th century were recovered. No medieval deposits were recognisable; however, no test-pits were excavated in the northern part of the site. [Au(abr)] |
