Abstract: |
An assessment determined that the study area was located within a sector of Newcastle that was of great archaeological potential and of local importance in facilitating a greater understanding of the settlement of Newcastle. It was thought that Roman activity existed in and around the study area, and that the site could also have contained deposits relating to the medieval Carmelite Friary to the west. There was some possibility that any deposits might have been disturbed as building had occurred in the study area in the past. Further archaeological work was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
