Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was indertaken during the groundworks associated with the redevelopment to mixed retail, office, residential and leisure facilities. In the central corridor a new course for the long-culverted River Rom was constructed, parallel to and straighter than the existing course. This new cutting revealed a section through alluvial deposits, which had neither anthropogenic finds or palaeoenvironmental interest. An isolated fragment of timber was found in an insecure stratigraphic position and it was not thought to be worth further study. [Au(adp)] |
