Abstract: |
Monitoring was carried out during the excavation of footing trenches associated with the construction of shops and houses. Two pits were located, one contained finds no earlier than the 16th century, the other was undated but certainly earlier than the 19th century as it was not filled with surface rubbish. Five wells were all probably backfilled in the 19th century. The rear of the property had been artificially raised with the partial backfilling of a terrace which was still visible in the property to the west. [Au(abr)] |
