Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken of the site prior to proposed development. The site was located within a priority archaeological zone as defined by the Local Planning Authority. The archaeological potential of the study site for any past periods of human activity prior to the late 17th century was considered to be low. The survival of any archaeological deposits on site was thought to have been probably severely compromised by late post-medieval quarrying and the cumulative impact of previous development and redevelopment. Because of the sites low archaeological potential and past post-depositional impacts it was thought unlikely that the proposed development would have a significant archaeological impact. On the basis of the available evidence, the report did not recommend the implementation of any further archaeological mitigation measures in this particular instance. [Au(adp)] |
