Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in advance of a proposed redevelopment. On the basis of the evidence gathered during the study, the general archaeological potential of the study area was considered to have been low. No former structures were indicated within the site prior to the construction of the late 19th tramway. However, the presence of earlier, medieval, Roman or prehistoric buried archaeological deposits could not be established from the documentary sources alone, and had not been tested by archaeological methods.
