Abstract: |
South of the existing building the construction of foundation trenches exposed an 18th or 19th century mortar and stone floor associated with a similarly dated wall. A second wall, built upon significantly larger foundations composed of water-worn boulders, was also encountered. The foundation boulders seemed to overlie an earlier feature, perhaps a pit or ditch filled with rather spongy deposits which remain unexcavated. East of the school, the cutting of foundation trenches exposed a small wall oreientated east-west and situated on the line of the partial remains of an extant wall to the east of the site.
