Abstract: |
The evaluation demonstrated a widespread survival of archaeological deposits of Roman date across the site. A small assemblage of struck flint indicated an earlier prehistoric presence on the site. No features of immediately post-Roman or medieval date were recognised and there is no evidence of medieval infilling. Map evidence illustrates the absence of structures of medieval or post-medieval date, however, material overlying the Roman layers was universally post-medieval with evidence of extensive cultivation.
