Abstract: |
The survey aimed to locate and identity any archaeological remains that may have been present along the route of proposed boundary fences and services trenches. The fence would enclose an intended expansion of Howletts Wild Animal Park. The work formed part of an archaeological assessment being undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust Ltd. The gradiometer survey recorded a generally low level of magnetic background response, except where adjacent fences and services caused interference. A single ditch anomaly, a cluster of pit responses and linear trends were recorded. The results suggested that no major settlement remains were present within the survey areas. [Au(abr)] |
