Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken prior to a residential development. The town incorporated areas of earlier prehistoric settlement, although it was better known for its substantial Late Iron Age settlement and succeeding Romano-British small town and defended enclosure. Three trial trenches were excavated to assess the archaeological potential of a part of the site that was initially surveyed by gradiometry. These revealed a series of Romano-British ditches, containing substantial quantities of datable material. [Au] |
