Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief on works of greater depth than one metre was undertaken during the second phase of a regeneration programme of Romford Market Place. The supervised work comprised of three tree pits, eight lighting columns and 6.3m of drainage trenching. Of the excavations carried out by the contractors one trench, one tree pit and one lighting column was recorded. The trench was found to have a possible shallow ditch feature within it and one tree pit to have substantial brick structures. The lighting column and other excavations revealed modern and natural layers only. [Au] |
