Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the stripping of topsoil and the excavation of foundation pits prior to the construction of a barn, at a site which lay within the deserted medieval settlement of Chadshunt. No archaeological remains had been found at the site, although a sunken area had been recorded in the location of the new building. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. It was concluded that medieval deposits could have been removed by later quarrying, although features could conceivably remain undisturbed beneath the subsoil. [Au(adp)] |
