Abstract:		 A watching brief at The Balcony, Hanley Swan, revealed a substantial late medieval layer and ditch. These were of the same date as material located to the east of the watching brief, where a pottery kiln had previously been discovered. No direct link with pottery production was established for the deposits identified during the watching brief.[AIP]
