Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the proposed site of a traffic cross-over feature and road realignment was undertaken. Bronze age material and flint tools of palaeolithic to neolithic date had been recorded in the surrounding area. The projected course of a major Roman road passed nearby, whilst Roman remains and an early medieval grave had been excavated in the vicinity. A rectory was built on the site in the first half of the 18th century; this was demolished in c. 1883. It was concluded that an evaluation should be carried out. [AIP] |
