Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a site with considerable archaeological potential was undertaken. Excavations in the near vicinity had discovered evidence of Roman activity, including brickearth quarrying. Buildings had been recorded to the south and east. Medieval cut features, including pits, wells and drains, had been found in the vicinity. It was concluded that trial trenches should be excavated in areas threatened by the development, and that a mitigation strategy should be discussed in order to preserve as much of the archaeological resource as possible.[AIP] |
