Abstract: |
Nine trial trenches were excavated across the site prior to the proposed extension to the present hotel. The excavation revealed modern structures and demolition debris associated with the former school overlying natural deposits of brickearth and gravel. One ditch seen in trench 8 produced no artefacts and therefore could not be dated. It was likely however that this represented a field boundary known to have existed here prior to the construction of the school. All the other features were natural or modern in nature. [Au(adp)] |
