Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site which lay within the area of the medieval suburb of Deritend. Evidence of medieval pottery production had been recorded in the vicinity. During the evaluation, a large 18th century pit or ditch was revealed. A brick floor, a cess pit and a wall foundation, which would have related to workshops recorded on mid-late 19th century maps, were also recorded. The remaining layers were likely to represent the demolition of the workshops, and subsequent levelling of the site prior to the construction of early 20th century houses. [Au(adp)] |
