Abstract: |
As a condition of scheduled monument consent an archaeological watching brief was carried out during the groundworks associated with stabilisation work on the west bank of Lincoln Castle. Groundworks consisted of the removal of loose material from the south corner of the bank which had fallen into restraining netting, and the subsequent cutting back of the bank in order to regrade the bank and stabilise it by applying new restraining material. No dating evidence was found during the work which made the interpretation of the bank very tenuous. Further research into the bank was deemed necessary to gain a more complete understanding of its function. [AIP] |
