Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in connection with the proposed redevelopment of the site. The site lay close to the southern edge of the historic core of Leicester. Known areas of early medieval activity existed to the north of the study area and may have extended into the area of the proposed redevelopment. However, as the area had been subjected to substantial and repeated redevelopment over many years, the likelihood of significant archaeological remains surviving was slight. It was concluded that a limited watching brief should be undertaken during below ground works to ascertain the presence of any archaeological remains. [Au(abr)] |
